Usually our orders increase dramatically in December, which is great as it usually makes up for the loss of income with our ‘enforced holiday’ over Christmas and New Year.
However, whilst its great to have a complete break for a few days, if you are self employed you cannot rest on your laurels for long.
You may wonder what you can do if sales are slow or stop. You cannot force people to buy your products!
What really is a good idea is to take some time to sort your inventory, ready for when the market picks up again, usually when the post service starts up again.
So no matter if you are a Merchant or FBA seller, it’s always a good idea to keep your stock inventory updated where you can.
One thing you can do if you think your sales are sluggish is to go to your open listings and refresh your prices: this can lead to a surge in sales.
To do this, go to your seller account and click on ‘manage inventory’.
I find it’s really useful to refresh prices where applicable.
Remember to save changes. If you want to edit a description, click on the little drop-down box at the side of the listing and chose the ‘edit’ option.
Of course, if you wish, you may prefer to close your inventory, if you are going away, or want a complete break.
To do this, go to your seller account and ‘settings’. You will see a link to your listings status, click on ‘edit’ and deactivate your listings.
When you are ready, just go back and activate them again. Of course, no need to do this if you’re selling using FBA: your listing will remain live, and Amazon will send your orders for you.
