I thought I would look at the performance of favourites during November and December , for the last 10 years, in Class 1-2-3, Group 1-2-3 and listed hurdle and chase races.
There are so many of these top quality jumps races during these latter 2 months.
Laying favourites in these races turned a 36 points profit over distances of 2 miles.
A near 50% strike rate for backers at Fairyhouse at this time of year sees a 22 points profit to Betfair SP ( BSP) and 31% Return on Investment (ROI).
Aintree sees a 17 point profit to BSP and 61% ROI.
The worst performing favourites in these quality jumps races came at Cheltenham, Navan and Sandown with a combined 48 points profit laying favourites at these venues.
If we focus on our pace characteristics (www.racingtv.com race cards -Timeform Pacemap will identify these), favourites as leaders have turned a 42 points profit to BSP and 17% ROI.
51 points profit to layers of favourites characterised as Hold up horses.
2 mile races stands out for me for laying favourites this November and December in these top quality races.
