How building links could get you to the top of Google SERPs

In last week’s post we talked about the importance of building links for the purpose of SEO and traffic building.

If you missed that you can recap
here

This week I wanted to go a step further with my link building advice by looking at some of the more unique strategies you can use to get the job done.

Strategies to Build Links to Your Website

As you read last week, there are dozens of ways you can begin building backlinks to your website. But in order to set yourself apart and create truly powerful backlinks (something that’s actually worth your time and effort!), you’ll need to step outside the box; today I want to share some of the unique ways you can build links to your website.

These unique methods won’t be for everyone. But one may well be the one that turns your online venture into a lucrative project. Fast.

3 Unique Ways to Build Links to Your Website

Sponsor Some Blog Content – On occasion, popular blogs will run online contests; these can be hotspots for building backlinks if you offer your sponsorship. Although sponsorship will set you back monetarily, most blog contest rules require that all sponsors be linked to within the overview of the blog contest – as part of the rules. If a thousand bloggers were to participate in a blog contest, you’d be effectively building over 1,000 backlinks to your website; considering that your time is very valuable, which could save you hundreds (even thousands) of dollars from one small (but amazing) investment.

Search the web for “blog contest” and sort the results by date added; you may find relevant blog contests within your niche being held on popular blogs; this is your opportunity to easily build backlinks to your website in a fraction of the time generally invested.

Create a Helpful Piece of Software – Online software (apps, plugins or tools) is a highly unique (and effective) way to build backlinks to your website. If you were to create a software application or tool which becomes the defacto standard for blogs, websites or people within a niche industry, you’re likely to be linked to because of the high amount of value it provides within these markets.

Whether you know how to code or have the money to outsource, take time to consider a need within the community which, until this point, required a heavy amount of work to gain a result such as checking backlinks, researching niche keywords or simply adding functionality to a website platform. If your software catches on then you’ll begin to see the backlinks roll in.

Build Custom Themes for Websites – As you will know, many website owners (like me! And maybe you too) cannot afford to pay a designer or do not want to spend a large chunk of time on the design process for their site: themes can be a great alternative when launching a website. If you were to create your own custom themes and release them to the world, you could include a link back to your website or business as a requirement for using your theme. If thousands of website owners use your theme, you’ll have thousands of websites linking back and as each additional page is created on these sites, you’ll gain another link.

This is another one that can be outsourced for those of us not versed in the skill of coding – and is well worth considering for its potential impact.
