My Top 10 Must-Have Internet Marketing Apps

I recently wrote to you about the potential of using an iPhone photography app called Instagram for making money.

A few of you emailed me asking if app-related opportunities like Instagram meant that you should be investing in a smart phone for yourself.

Now, whilst I’m never going to tell you all to sign up to a financially draining phone contract, I will say that with Internet Marketing, A LOT of what you need to do with ANY idea can be made easier with a Smartphone.

And that’s what I wanted to look at today…

10 Must-Have Internet Marketing Apps

Here are some of the most useful apps you should be using in your Internet marketing efforts. The good news is most of them totally free.

So let’s get rolling…

1. CheckCB

If you are a Clickbank affiliate, you should definitely have CheckCB. We’ve touched upon the importance of using stats and data to help you make decisions in your marketing efforts and that is exactly what this app will do for your Clickbank marketing efforts.

Indeed, if you’re an affiliate marketer (or are thinking of being one) it’s also worth you looking at iBusiness Stats. This is a similar little app that gives you instant access to stats on not only Clickbank accounts but also Commission Junction, ClickBooth etc. All the major players in the world of Internet Marketing affiliates. Now all you need to do is make sure you’re getting some sales, so you can be excited by the stats when you open the apps up!

2. Wordpress

You may already have a Wordpress site or blog.  If you don’t you can use the app to set one up and to post to it. Easily. The Wordpress app is great. If you don’t want to add content to your site direct from your phone as you sit on the bus, you can use it to manage comments, look at stats, etc.

3. SEO Pro

If you are interested in SEO marketing for your site or any endeavor you’re working on take a look at this.

SEO Pro is a pretty decent app that provides information and data about domain rankings, Google pageranks, backlinks, inbound links, Alexa rankings, and social share information from Twitter, Facebook, and Delicious. You can also check out how you’re ranking on Google and other search engines for specific keywords.

4. Google Analytics

Talking of SEO and data, Google Analytics is another one of the top apps for iPhone. You can install analytics on to a site that will allow you to manage and view, from your phone and for free, how many leads you’re getting, how your content is converting your traffic, and even which keywords are being searched the most.

5. TweetDeck and other Twitter Apps

Tweetdeck is known to be one of the best desktop applications for Twitter but is also available in app form.

TweetDeck makes managing numerous accounts very easy, allowing you to view tweets, mentions and friends simultaneously – perfect for a local business marketer or someone with lots of clients.

You can also add search columns which can be customised based on selected keywords to help you research certain topics or keep an eye on what people are saying about something.

6. The Official Facebook App

A pretty obvious choice as it is the most downloaded social networking app. But not many people use it for updating their Facebook Pages and managing the business side of the site.

7. Mashable

I really recommend Mashable as the best place for you to keep up to date with what’s happening in the world of Internet marketing. You can find some fantastic information on Mashable that can inspire some brilliant ideas.

Mashable (the site and the app) gives you news on technology, apps, mobile information, social networking and general internet-related stuff too.

With the app, which is fantastic, multiple tabs allow you to see a complete breakdown of channels which you can search by category, tag or by author

8. The iMarketer App – all about learning

This cool little app gives you videos, articles and news resources related to the digital marketing industry. This includes golden nuggets of training such as talks from senior managers from Google. Categories of information include, SEO, PPC, Email Marketing, Online PR and Social Media.

9. Share information with Podio

There are many services like this, but Podio happens to be one of my favorites. This a free service where you can manage a project (share information and files and keep everything in one place) with many people from across the globe. It’s a great app and free unlike many of its competitors. If you are outsourcing work or sharing ideas with fellow Internet Marketers this is definitely worth a look.

10. ImageToText

One thing I love doing when going through old books or trying to make some sense of my own notes is using the phone’s camera combined with this app to OCR (optical character recognition) the text. When you have text from a book you see or a sign or a magazine, you can tweet it, share it on Facebook or even just email a chunk of text out of a book to yourself for reference. Perfect.

I really could go on with this, but I just wanted to share a handful that I use personally to help me to learn and help me to run tests and manage campaigns. These would all be helpful to any one of the many blueprints we publish in IID and if you have a smartphone, or are thinking of getting one, these come highly recommended.

Have I missed any apps that you would recommend?

If so, let me know and I’ll add to the list.
