Make More Money Using Weird eBay Listings

Get Better Sales With Weird eBay Listings

If you’re selling on eBay, or want to, you’ll know how difficult it can be to come up with good product ideas. And you’ll know how difficult it is to get more traffic for your listings.

Too many people seem to be selling all the good ideas already, or so it seems. What you want is something that will stand out and get your listings noticed, right?

Well you might not know it. But listing some of the most weird and crazy products can be one way to get more sales on eBay. (Although perhaps not in the way you expect!)

More of that later. But here are the TOP TEN WEIRD ITEMS ON EBAY, according to an article on Hubpages.com. There’s a serious point to all this, so stay with me here!

1. Squirrel underpants. Yes, underpants for squirrels.

2. Kangaroo scrotum key ring. (Yes, real ones from real kangaroos!)

3. Real moose poop doo doo nugget necklace. A perfect present for the love of your life.

4. Haunted voodoo love spell ring.

5. Insta poop. This one’s best left to your imagination, honestly.

6. Real crab necklace. Also available as a matching key chain.

7. Vampire coffin. At 8” x 2” would best suit a midget vampire.

8. Highly poisonous cane toad craft skin hide. With a coin in its mouth for luck. Truly bizarre.

9. Real emerald beetle earrings.

10. Hand carved nude back scratcher.

Now maybe you’re thinking all this is absolutely crazy. But there’s a very good reason why listing weird stuff works. It can get a lot of attention for your other, genuine product listings.

You see, ‘weird’ is a significant keyword on eBay. And there are thousands and thousands of searches and results for ‘weird’ on eBay. Apparently there are lots of eBayers who pass the time looking for weird things! (Why does that not surprise me?)

So, the theory goes, by listing weird things alongside your genuine products and linking to them using ‘See Other Items’ – you can get lots of traffic and, hopefully, lots of sales for your genuine lines.

This could also be a great, relatively easy way to harness the power of viral marketing for your eBay business too. Even if visitors don’t buy your weird stuff (and given how weird some of it is let’s hope they don’t) there’s a good chance they’ll email your listing to a friend or share it on Twitter or Facebook.

And it could be even better than that! You could even get valuable press and media coverage. Remember when Britney Spears’ half eaten egg salad sandwich turned up for auction on eBay? It sold for ‘just’ $520 but it generated millions of pounds of free publicity around the globe. Can you imagine what even a tiny share of that publicity would do for your eBay business?

So, OK, as a marketing technique listing weird stuff is a bit weird in itself. But it’s a legitimate technique that’s already used successfully by some eBayers. And since it costs next to nothing to set up (after all, no one will probably actually buy your weird listing) why not give it a try?
