Here's a little truism to get us started. Sequences always end. Winning Sequences, Draw Sequences, Losing sequences.
How to use sequences to boost your betting bank
To give you a great example, here's a little sequence which ended recently. Arsenal, in 15 recent Premiership matches, won the match whenever Robin van Persie scored. What a sequence. And what happened in the 16th match? Robin Van Persie scored against Swansea, and lo and behold, Arsenal lost!
The longer a sequence progresses, the nearer it is to ending, and it will end when a team face the "right" opponents.
And here's a great website for a glimpse at the strong sequences present at the moment. The site is footymad - the biggest sequences here? Burnley have gone 22 matches without a draw, and 24 matches since an away draw. This is in all competitions. This sequence is so big that it will end at some stage surely?
If you want a closer look at individual teams' sequences, check out soccerstats (this is the link for Burnley - notice the Streaks column -19 overall without a draw and 13 away without a draw) soccerstats is its name.
How else can you use sequences? Well why not look at goalscorers, and obvious goalscorers at that.
This is Barcelona's page at soccerstats
Scroll down to the goalscorers and you will see Lionel Messi has scored 19 this season, 18 at home. In recent matches against Real Madrid and Espanyol, Messi did not score. Now this is a big sequence (relatively speaking) for Messi . So, next match, which happened to be at home, back him to score (after all he has scored 19 goals this season, 18 at home).
And he pops in with 2 goals.
So take a look at sequences, the bigger the better, the longer the sequence, the nearer we are to its end.
New Year, New compounding challenge
What better time to start a new compounding experiment that a new year start? To remind those of you new to compounding, what we seek to do is to start with a nominal sum, and make a percentage per day. Me? I chose £100 and 1.43% per day, as that rather neatly returns £18K after 365 days of successful compounding. With laying a viable option now, there are many more opportunities to nick that target profit daily. I use inplay horse racing to lay horses in running to a fixed liability. I rarely back when using compounding. It is far easier to oppose something which forms part of a large market than it is to back something and hope that one bet wins.
Here are some markets I love to use to get those compounding profits.
- Lay Halftime/fulltime markets
- Correct Score Halftime market
- Inplay horse racing market.
- Lay 3-0 sets for opponents of strong tennis favourites
Here's a glimpse of the last 7 days compounding. As you can see, small winnings because we have small daily targets:
I'll be honest, I have been exceeding my daily target of 1.43% and this is dangerous, because the more you bet the more you risk a loss. Finding one successful back/lay a day is easy if you utilise the full capabilities of the Betting exchanges. If you want to discuss ideas on compounding, get in touch.
One potential stumbling block to compounding success?
Indiscipline. Trying to make up more than your day's target in a single day and thus overexposing your betting bank. Find one back or lay a day from the myriad betting opportunities, including inplay.
Favourites worth pursuing?
By next week I'll have a great idea as to whether the favourites based systems I am using are worthy of following up. Betting on favourites, like my each way idea, negates the need for form analysis so is appealing to the newcomer. And favourites do win regularly, so there must be an exploitable angle somewhere. So expect some feedback in next week's eletter.
I will be looking at traditional favourites backing, 2nd favourites performances in certain races, and even the performance of the favourites in the last races of the day (the myth is that we can lay the favourites in the last matches of the day, and still profit).
The onion bag is bulging!
I'm working on an idea based specifically on football goals markets. I think if we focus specifically on goals, and goals alone, we'll get a better strike rate. So once a test site is up and running, I'll certainly let you know. I want to look at:
The latter 2 markets offer nice prices and I am confident that we can make money out of goals.
It's only blinking Cheltenham!
Yes, it's a bit early, but I'm putting together a February What Really Wins Money Cheltenham Special and if it's half as potent as last year's, then the poor bookies' satchels are going to be emptied!
There's a lay angle, and an each way angle and I'll try to persuade some tipsters to give their insights for free.
