I'm Proud And Embarrassed
What Really Makes Money
27th January 2009
Hi,
Just a very quick note...
I know it's a bit off message, but so many of you have emailed me with good wishes I thought I'd keep you updated...
After a relatively short labour (6 hours), Heloise gave birth to Isabella Aya Laight at 4:09am on Thursday 22nd January. Weighing in at 7llb 11 ounces, 'Belle' is now home and both mother and baby are doing fine.
Thankfully, Heloise's mother - Giuliana - has been absolutely brilliant! She's helping out, cooking amazing meals and dispensing motherly wisdom. She's also insisted that I try and keep some normality to my life, hence I've slipped into the office to write this to you.
OK, that's the proud bit out of the way. Here's where things get embarrassing...
If you received the latest What Really Makes Money newsletter you may have noticed a few... er... proofing errors.
More specifically, there were spelling mistakes.
And grammatical cock ups.
And more than a couple of syntactical bloopers.
I even received a letter from a reader offering his proof-reading services!
He pointed out 5 errors on the front page alone! When I realised I got that sick feeling in my stomach and now I dare not even look beyond page 1.
I suspect there are hundreds of other people who are just too polite to say anything.
That's not good. That's very bad.
I do hope you will give me the benefit of the doubt due to my recent arrival, but such diabolical proofing errors are not acceptable. We normally outsource our proofing, but on this one occasion I entrusted a couple of people in the office to proof the issue while I was looking after Zac and Heloise.
They let me down and yes... they have been dealt with!
Severely.
But the buck, as the saying goes, stops here. I apologise and hope that it didn't spoil your enjoyment of the contents too much!
Right, that's it for now. Normal communications will resume in February. But for now I just want to spend some time with Elle and Belle! ;-)
Best regards
Nick
